Almost every company in the finance industry claims to be a “people business”. The Bendigo Bank Group lives by this principle. People on both sides of the counter are what makes the Bendigo the Bendigo.

At the Bendigo Bank we firmly believe that successful customers and successful communities create a successful bank – in that order.

This principle is reflected in our commitment to help customers achieve their financial goals, and in our work to enhance the economic and social prospects of the communities we serve – including Community Bank® sites throughout Australia. This approach has produced strong growth for our company, with more than 230 company and Community Bank® branches, in excess of 44,000 shareholders and 800,000 customers, and assets under management of more than $10 billion. We are also the only Australian bank headquartered outside a capital city.

The Bendigo Bank Group has a long and proud tradition stretching back to 1858 when the Bendigo Building Society was formed. Prior to our conversion to banking status in July 1995 we were Australia's oldest building society.

The past three decades have seen the Bendigo grow quickly, in the process acquiring a number of other firms including Sandhurst Trustees, National Mortgage Market Corporation, Worley Securities, Victorian Securities, Cassa Commerciale Australia, and First Australian Building Society

The Bendigo Bank also has a number of joint ventures including Elders Rural Banking Limited, Tasmanian Banking Services, Community Sector Banking and with communities across Australia through our Community Banks® Branches.

The Bank and its subsidiaries offer a wide range of banking and financial services for individuals, businesses, farmers and not-for-profit groups. Our range of banking services includes a variety of personal and business banking products and services, investment solutions, insurance, financial services and corporate accounts to meet the investment, saving and everyday banking needs of our customers.
