Why not come and join us at CBAS? It’s the largest school in the world!

Christian Brothers’ Agricultural School is located in the Northern Wheat belt, 460 km from Perth and 140 km East of Geraldton.

It is currently a Year 8-12 boy’s boarding school, however, as of 2007 the school will be opening its doors to girls for the first time in its history. Now girls will have the same opportunity as boys to experience a unique education.

There is an enrolment of 70 boys and a minimum of 6 girls in each year level will begin in 2007. 50% of our students are indigenous and come from all over Western Australia.

The most unique aspect of this school is that it is extends to young adults a lifestyle that develops a strong work ethic, ability to accept and respect fellow peers and other members of the community and a genuine care for the land and their environment. When students leave CBAS they are capable, independent and resilient young people.

The school gives students a distinctive educational opportunity. It presents mainstream academic courses along with the added interest and flair of practical and skills orientated courses. The curriculum (starting from Year 8) is undertaken not only in the classroom, but also in the workshops and out on the farm. They become well-rounded individuals in both academic and practical applications. On leaving CBAS students can enter apprenticeships, TAFE or University courses.

Staff are accommodated on the school campus. Rent is $60.00 per week and all gas, electricity and water is part of the accommodation package.

Even though we are in a semi remote area (the nearest town being Mullewa which is 40kms away), we are quite a little “village” in ourselves because we all live on the property. Geraldton is the largest town situated north of Perth and provides all necessary facilities. It is on the coast and is only 1 ½ hours drive (140km) from Tardun. Staff generally do their shopping and access services in Geraldton. Mullewa provides medical services (hospital and doctor), plus some shops and a post office. There is also a Catholic primary school in Mullewa, of which several children of current staff attend. A bus service to Mullewa is provided.

CBAS has a swimming pool, trampolines, horses, bushwalking, tennis/basketball courts, squash courts and so provides an environment in which staff can relax once their day is complete.

As part of the remuneration staff qualify for a remote area package.

CBAS Tardun is a unique school and people develop a true passion for the place, the people and the opportunity to help young people achieve and experience success in their lives.
