About Us

Hale School’s foundations were set in 1858, making it the oldest boys’ school in Western Australia. We are sited on an elevated 48 hectare property, 15 minutes west of the Perth city centre. Our school is a thriving environment catering for boys from Years 1 to Year 12. We also offer modern and high quality boarding accommodation for boys in Year 7 onwards. Hale School continues its proud tradition of being a leading school in academia, the arts and sports. It is a progressive school with ongoing development of teaching and learning strategies and pastoral care initiatives. A vital part of the education provided at Hale School involves instilling in the boys personal attributes such as responsibility, independence, resilience, concern and respect for others, leadership and strong moral values.

Mission Statement

Hale School strives to provide a diverse and quality education for all of its students within a Christian environment, which emphasises the nurturing of sound character and strong moral sense, develops each individual's talents and capacities to the full and which is directed to the attainment of the higher intellectual, spiritual, moral, social, cultural and economic aspirations of mankind.

The School aspires to have all people involved in its communal life treated with love and respect and helped to celebrate the richness of life, in its many dimensions.

Future Focused

To ensure a path of growth, sustained development and continuous improvement, Hale School focuses on key social, cultural and educational trends that will prepare your son for the future.

These include:
  • The need for a broad education that encompasses academic, cultural, physical, spiritual, creative and experiential goals;
  • The importance of understanding how learning occurs and how to maximise its effectiveness to each individual;
  • The changing role of the teacher to learning facilitator, concerned that students understand the process of learning and embrace methodologies to enhance this process;
  • The use of technology to enrich the learning environment;
  • The increasing role of effective pastoral care in the educative process;
  • The need for the development of a positive and meaningful relationship between the School, the home and the wider community;
  • The increasing demands for the provision of an holistic education.
