College History:
The College draws from the traditions and Charism of three religious orders. During the 1950's there was booming employment in the power industry and a surge of post war migration. These three orders came in response to the needs of the growing communities in the Latrobe Valley.
In 1951 the Presentation Sisters established their convent in Moe and began a school for girls. In 1956 the Marist Fathers founded St Paul's College for boys in Traralgon. The Marist Brothers assumed responsibility for St Paul's College in 1962. The same year the Brigidine Sisters established Kildare College for girls in Traralgon.
Over time Catholic education adapted to the changing social, financial and educational demands in the Latrobe Valley. The Marist Brothers and Brigidine sisters established Lourdes College during the late 1970's. This in turn led to the formation of Catholic Regional College Traralgon. Finally in 2001, Presentation College amalgamated with Catholic Regional College to form Lavalla Catholic College. The three Campus College now meets the Catholic secondary schooling needs of all families in Latrobe City.
The College has a complement of approximately 1400 students and 200 teachers and offers a wide and varied range of academic, musical, vocational, sporting and co-curricular subjects and activities over three campuses in the City of Latrobe.

At Lavalla Catholic College we strive to extend the minds of the students, sharpen their analytical skills and develop empathy to create an environment that leads them to be better and more caring people who can make a difference to the lives of others, our church and our planet.
