At Melbourne Girls Grammar (MGGS) we aim to develop young women who are filled with confidence about the future, about their place in a world full of challenge and change, and who look forward with enthusiasm to a role in life in 'the global village'.
Founded in 1893, MGGS officially became an Anglican girls' school some ten years later. Today it continues to flourish in this tradition, proud of its broad, rich curriculum and its recognition of individual differences. The School recognises too, that its greatest asset is a staff committed to excellence. The breadth of the curriculum embraces intellectual, creative, technological, spiritual and physical growth. In a positive and supportive environment every girl is encouraged, indeed expected, to strive for personal excellence, developing to her fullest potential. This will enable her to pursue a full and happy life, confident to make choices about studies, careers, personal relationships and lifestyles. The expectations of girls at MGGS are high and they reflect the opportunities detailed in the School's policy statements. These policies are based on our Christian beliefs.
