Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre
As Australia ’s foremost Cancer Centre, the Peter MacCallum
Cancer Centre provides high quality treatment services and support
to cancer patients, their families and their carers. An internationally
renowned organisation, with services in East Melbourne and satellite
services at Box Hill, Moorabbin and Bendigo, as well as a private service
at the Epworth Hospital in Richmond. Peter Mac aims to broadly influence
cancer care in the community through multi-disciplinary care, research
and education.
Peter Mac’s Research Division employs nearly 300 highly qualified
staff and is one of the largest cancer research groups in Australia.
Research is undertaken within four main research programs: Cellular & Molecular
Biology, Stem Cell, Cancer Immunology and Cancer Genomics & Genetics.
There is a clear and strong focus on translational research - from
the laboratory bench-top to the bedside.
The Cancer Nursing Education & Research Group at the East Melbourne
campus offers a broad range of comprehensive and specialised education
and training opportunities for Registered Nurses (Division 1 and 2).
Peter Mac also provides considerable support to other key staff, such
as radiation therapists and medical physicists.
