To make the transition as smooth as possible, either organise a UK bank account before you leave or make contact with a UK bank and find out what documentation they require to set up new accounts. Often banks require a residential address, letter of employment and utility bill in your name.
It’s also worthwhile establishing how you can access your Australian or New Zealand finances from overseas, and how your family or institutions can transfer money to you while you’re in the UK.
Don’t take only one form of money with you: take a mix of cash, credit cards and traveller’s cheques and don’t store them all together. |
